The EU and Canada are currently in negotiations for a ground-breaking Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) that could provide up to EUR 20 billion per year in additional benefits to the two economies.
The Italian Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), as part of a year-long project partially funded by the European Union, will organize a series of activities that promote public knowledge and understanding of the EU within the business communities of the Western Provinces of Canada and promote dialogue and debate around the proposed Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), with the goal of collecting feedback and support from the business community in favour of CETA.
This project builds on the activities completed under a previous tender awarded to ICCC by the European Commission in 2009 for the organization of a conference and 3 workshops in Western Canada on the EU-Canada relationship. For more information on the 2009 project see here.
The current project aims to engage the business communities in Western Canada on a province-wide basis. We have developed customized information products and will organize seminars in each of the Western Provinces in partnership with Chambers of Commerce, business groups and with Provincial governments and institutions to provide a forum for debate and dialogue in order to identify the key issues and opportunities represented by CETA.
The project is organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada - West and it is partially funded by the EU
